Travel agencies and tour operators on the Costa del Sol cannot overlook the potential of Internet in terms of number of users. In the European Union, there are more than 100 million Internet surfers. According to Nielsen NetRatings only in the Spanish market in 2005, 11 millions used search engines to access information available on the web.

The School of Tourism of the University of Málaga and ESESA (the Business School of Southern Spain) are implementing an MA in Tourism Management and Planning, aimed at training professionals in decision-making for high-responsibility jobs and managerial positions in travel companies and tourism institutions.

2nd Meeting Travel Awards Gala ends successfully

The 2nd Meeting Travel Awards Gala, “Picasso and Spanish Music”, organised by the Convention Bureau of the Costa del Sol Tourist Board with the collaboration of Turismo Andaluz, and sponsored by the Spanish Tourism Promotion Bureau, Turespaña, has come to a close. This successful gala was held in Ronda on 1 July.

Survey of Spanish Travel Movements (Familitur)

From January to December 2005, residents in Spain made 171.6 million trips, 93.9% of which (161.1 millions) took them within Spanish territory (domestic trips), and 6.1% (10.5 millions) took them to foreign destinations (outbound trips). The study presented this week is in Spanish.

Incoming tourists – May 2006

A total 632,114 travellers came to the province of Málaga via Pablo Ruiz Picasso International Airport in May, 4.17% more than in the same month in 2005, when 613,753 people visited the province.
