Ángel González: Best Sommelier 2009

Ángel González, maître-sommelier at one of the best-known resorts on the Costa del Sol, the Marbella Club Hotel Golf Resort & Spa, has been chosen as the Best Sommelier of the Year by the Sommeliers Association of Andalusia, Málaga, and the Costa del Sol (ASM). The award ceremony took place at Restaurante Santiago in Marbella on December 15.

The Costa del Sol Tourist Board at the Travel Counsellors annual conference

Once again this year, the Costa del Sol Tourist Board was present in the annual conference of Travel Counsellors, which was held in Manchester, in the old train station, now converted to convention centre, housing most meals, seminars, and work sessions. The conference drew over 1,100 travel agents and suppliers.

Hotel Occupancy Survey – October 2009

377,496 guests stayed in Costa del Sol-based hotels in October 2009. 167,506 of them lived in Spain, whereas the remaining 209,990 were international travellers.

The Tourist Board at Vincci Hoteles annual conference

The Costa del Sol Tourist Board has been involved in the organisation of the recently-held annual conference of the hotel chain Vincci, which drew over 70 attendees, including managers and assistant managers from hotels in Spain, Portugal, Tunisia and the US, as well as the General Manager.

Igualeja, a Town Crossed by the Genal River

Straddling between Sierra Blanca, Sierra Bermeja, and Sierra de las Nieves Nature Park, Igualeja is one of the most traditional villages in the Genal valley. In fact, the river rises next to its buildings, which cannot be seen from any other location in the province. The village is hidden from view even for visitors, who can only see it at the last road bend.
